Scanty menstruation, amenorrhea or late menstrual period and infertility related some reasons and treatment with acupuncture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
There are increased incidences of scanty menstruation, amenorrhea or late
menstrual period and infertility, which are caused by various reproductive and
endocrine disorders. The common reasons include:
-
Long-term stress/depression affecting the ovarian function to cause ovarian mal-development, or early failure. Some young females suffer from scanty menstruation, amenorrhea when they undergo PHD study, or high degree courses, or after a severe accident.
-
Excessive physical work or training during puberty causes mal-development in the ovaries or uterus resulting in menoxenia, often seen in some athletes and dancers.
Qi and blood in the body has certain quantity. when the large quantity of qi and blood in the body go to four limbs most of time for long time and then uterus and ovary had shortness of qi and blood for months and years, finally causes mal-development in the ovaries or uterus resulting in menoxenia etc.
-
Excessive use of the contraceptive pill causes imbalance of Estrogen & Progesterone causing their ovarian activity decreased. Some women take contraceptive therapies (birth control pills) for over 10 years.
For example, some women present with unexplained infertility, which may be caused by taking contraceptive pills for a long time. Due to excessive intake of artificial estrogen, the vitality of progesterone in their body has been decreased, or the proportion of these hormones is out of balance. Therefore, they present with infertility, but no any structural abnormality can be detected.
Acupuncture is good at stimulating the self -regulating function inside of the body to balance the hormonal disorder.
-
Lose weight by strict diet for long time will cause scanty menstruation or even amenorrhea. Because short of nutrition for long time cause qi and blood deficiency, and the body has to keep main organs to get enough qi and blood supply and decreased qi and blood to got to less important organs such as ovary, uterus. later induce scanty menstruation or even amenorrhea and infertility.
Acupuncture and TCM treatment can active the channels, invigorate qi and blood, regulate menstruation, benefits the uterus and assist conception
-
In vitro fertilization (IVF), using medicine to promote more eggs matured and released at one period, sometimes it may be over 10 eggs once. Ovulation induction therapy will cause ovarian damaged and early failure. After one session of IVF, the best way is doing acupuncture and TCM treatment to self-regulation and self-healing function. And then you may continue to doing the second session of IVF.
-
Polycystic ovary, or PSCO (Polycystic ovary syndrome), and amenorrhea, or longer menstrual circle which is caused by an ovary’s problem.
When you have delayed menstrual period, it may be a sign of polycystic ovary and the early stage of PSCO. The earlier stage with acupuncture and TCM treatment, the easier and more effective for recovering function of ovary.
Fundamental theory and technique of acupuncture and TCM:
-
stimulate and strengthen the self-regulating functions:
for example, some women with unexplained infertility, which may be caused by taking contraceptive pills for a long time, but no any structural abnormality can be detected.
Acupuncture and TCM is good at stimulating the self -regulating function inside of the body to balance the hormonal disorder.
-
promote ovulation:
this has been proven by some research.
-
strengthen self-healing function:
for example, women with endometriosis may have some damages to their endometrium of uterus from excessive endometrial tissues displace. Endometria become unsmooth. Acupuncture will strengthen the self-healing function of endometria to improve the condition of the uterus.
